Blotting A Stain (Liquid Stains)

When blotting a stain – that is still wet – from a carpet use dry, white absorbent cloths or white paper towels with no printing on them.  Whatever liquid caused the stain, it could be a solvent which unbinds print from the paper you are using. If ink from the print is dissolved by the alcohol or water in the spilt solution, it could end up making the stain far worse.  What is more, once it dries, it could be fixed irretrievably to the fibres of your carpet.

If ink from the print is dissolved by the alcohol or water in the spilt solution, it could end up rubbing off onto the crapet and therefore making the stain far worse.  What is more, once it dries, it could be fixed irretrievably to the fibres of your carpet!  Don’t take the chance, use plain, unprinted paper only.

Wiping Up Solid Stains

If the stain consists of solids or semi-solids, you can remove as much as possible with a rounded spoon.  Once you have removed excess mess from the carpet, you will be able to use one of our carpet stain-removal methods.

There are a huge variety of treatments that can be used to remove certain stains from particular materials.  We hope you’ll find one of our ‘how to’ techniques works for you.
